LOVE STORY SERIES - Annie & Chris’ sweltering soirée.

Location: Wallalong House, Hunter Valley, NSW

Venue

In seeking a venue, both Annie & Chris wanted somewhere close to Newcastle, of which they call home, somewhere not too far for most guests to travel, and all were invited to stay a little longer than just their wedding day. Wallalong House is such a fabulous venue, there’s beautiful homestead (with a sweet pool - thank goodness it was VERY HOT, 45 degrees to be exact) and spectacular views. It’s also rather isolated with a pretty decent curfew, or as Chris put it “no neighbours to pull on the reins”, which meant… there was plenty of dancing following the formalities…

For Annie and Chris being able to stay on the premises was a real bonus as well. It optimised the time they got to spend with all their guests…

Why Marriage?

When poked and probed as to what marriage means… Annie & Chris agreed that their wedding day formalities solidified their commitment to love and support one another…

Pre wedding day, they had been an ‘official couple’ for 9 years, a ‘kind of together item’ for 2 before that, and even friends before that, they already felt like family to each other. Getting married served as an opportunity to celebrate their time together - but, it was also an opportunity to celebrate their next chapter - one that would hopefully see their already cute family [Max their doggo included] expand in to a larger one… [fast forward to 2022, it actually has and their but, Augie is gorgeous]!!! Marriage certainly marked the next step in their journey and enabled Chris and Annie to move forward, building on the beautiful life they had created together with a commitment to forever.

Love Story

Chris and Annie strike a wonderful balance, i was informed by Annie before delivering the ceremony that all guests in would agree… supposedly Chris is mostly the calm to Annie’s chaos. I quoted Annie at some stage with this goodie, “…I thought it might be worth mentioning as everyone there will know I’m the emotional, disorganised Cancerian to his spreadsheet loving Virgo.” Being able to include quotes like this offers the ceremony a personable touch that we at Marry Us Sally really enjoy.

Anyhow, what’s really amazing, these two went to the same pre-school! More recently, much to their surprise, Chris had been spotted in some of Annie’s baby book photos, seated one person apart from each other, dressed suitably as a shepherd and an angel in the end of year Christmas concert.

Annie & Chris weren’t considered high school sweethearts per se - they attended different local schools, before fate brought them together again when they started their first jobs in year 9 at McDonalds in Tamworth. It was a slow burn, but there was definitely something in the air. SO much so that one night at a party, Chris took it upon himself to tell Annie’s then boyfriend, that one day he would marry his girlfriend. It almost landed him in a fight but who knows, maybe also a soon to be author on the power of manifestation.

It wasn’t until years later that the two actually started dating.. it was long distance at first with Chris in Newcastle and Annie in Sydney but it didn’t take long before they could no longer stand being so far apart.

So with this in mind, it’s no surprise that for these lovers, their favourite thing to do is simply spend time together. Be it at home eating Mexican food on the floor, hanging at the beach, brainstorming business concepts over beers or gallivanting overseas. These two have in fact spent so much time together and connected in such a way that they both are in tune to when a song is so annoying it need to be skipped with a 100% accuracy rating.

It’s this joy and appreciation of being together, of spending time together in seemingly ordinary moments, that makes these two such a cute & strong couple.

Was an absolute pleasure contributing to your day Annie and Chris.
